[aur-general] Palemoon font size
Hi, the font size of the palemoon menu bar is smaller, than the font size other gtk2 apps are using. I'm running openbox. The font size is set by .gtkrc-2.0 and only ignored by palemoon. Is there a way to set up the font size for palemoon too? Regards, Ralf PS: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/palemoon/ $ pacman -Qi palemoon | grep Depends Depends On : gtk2 [...] $ cat .gtkrc-2.0 # Auto-written by gtk2_prefs. Do not edit. gtk-theme-name = "Adwaita" style "user-font" { font_name="FreeSans 12" } widget_class "*" style "user-font"

Why not ask there, in the comments? Best, Marcel

Because "This list is for [...] the general public to discuss issues surrounding [...] the Arch User Repository (AUR)" [1] and users usually don't read daily all new comments for all PKGBUILDs, but they likely follow this mailing list. I would report a bug against the PKGBUILD as comment, but my question is about usage of the software the PKGBUILD does provide. So, what's wrong with asking this question on this list? IMO it absolutely doesn't belong to the comments. Regards, Ralf [1] https://lists.archlinux.org//listinfo/aur-general

IMHO, this list is for issues *with* the AUR itself (and things surrounding that), but not for issues with software you got *from* the AUR. If you look at the archives[1], this is also how it's used. [1] https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-general/

The BBS[2] or arch-general[3] would be the right place I think. I agree the comments aren't either. Hi Florian, I have to revise my claim "it _absolutely_ doesn't belong to the comments". I guess it's ok to ask some usage questions by a comment too, but as already pointed out, less people might notice a comment and to many usage requests by a comment would be bad. Questions regarding software from AUR are unwanted on Arch general, so in the past several subscribers send requests regarding usage of software from AUR to AUR general. Yes, the forums are a place were it's allowed to ask. So we've got no mailing list for requests regarding usage of software from AUR? Users could subscribe to each mailing list of the software they are using, but then we need to subscribe to hundreds of mailing lists. I'm subscribed to the mailing lists of software I often use, but palemoon is something I installed for testing purpose. IMO there should be a mailing list for requests regarding software, if the fine manual doesn't answer a question. Regards, Ralf

I actually agree with you here.

I wasn't aware of that (I'm not reading arch-general). I'd have said it belongs there, but I might be wrong then. Sorry!

Indeed. As said I felt like arch-general is that place, apparently it's not (I happen to disagree with that, though). It seems like others agree aur-general isn't either... So what is? I don't know. Ah, I thought it was a question specific to that piece of software and I suggested to use the comments for that package (I suppose at least the package maintainer reads comments). I think questions regarding packages may be appropiate here, but if all users from all packages start asking questions about packages here, I fear the mailing list will be cluttered with lots of messages about software only a few people actually use. Of course these are only my € 0,02, I'm in no way a list moderator or prescriber here.
Questions regarding software from AUR are unwanted on Arch general, so in the past several subscribers send requests regarding usage of software from AUR to AUR general.
Indeed, questions about AUR (= unsupported) software should not be asked in the general mailing list.
Users could subscribe to each mailing list of the software they are using, but then we need to subscribe to hundreds of mailing lists.
And that's why comment discussions feel more appropiate to me: only users of the software are notified. Actually, I might be more responsive to comments, as they are delivered in my general inbox, whereas mails to mailing lists pop up in several submaps. Best, Marcel

Try replacing the file with the following lines: gtk-theme-name = "Adwaita" gtk-font-name = "FreeSans 12"
