Re: [aur-general] aurdupes 0.6 released
qtiplot-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47810) simply
intends to update versions numbers quicker than the repository. I'm not sure
what the rules are surrounding this situation.
uqm-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51672) has similar
intentions.
libmowgli-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47375) does the
same thing and is currently orphaned.
libdrm-newest https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22973 does the same
thing and is actively maintained.
libksba-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50960) did the
same thing but "Libksba 1.2 is now in [Extra]. This package is no longer
required." and has subsequently been orphaned.
tremulous-updated (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21426) does/did
the same thing (the tremelous project hasn't been updated since 2009).
libdvdnav-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17355) does/did the
same thing (the project hasn't been updated since 2008).
telepathy-glib-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=50140) also
does this. It is currently orphaned. The submitter says in the comments:
"This package will be needed until telepathy-glib on extra is updated to
0.15.1."
lyx-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=48936) looks like it
does the same thing but has changed a few couple flags in the process.
I'll edit the original duplicates list once these packages have been
processed by a TU.

removed all but the one that is maintained by a TU.
*Packages created to update others:*
dar-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51785) wanted to
update dar [community] more quickly. It has been abandonded and only has 1
vote.
deja-dup-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=35144) has similar
intentions for deja-dup (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=28835). I
have just flagged deja-dup as out of date.
evilvte-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51769) had similar
intentions for evilvte (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=16727) and
has since been abandoned. It has no votes.
extcalc-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=36578) has similar
intentions for extcalc (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22084),
which was a year out of date at the time of extcalc-new's creation.
flashrom-svn-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=45519) had
similar intentions for flashrom-svn (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=23390). It has since been
abandoned and may have even been deleted before.
fmit-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=51160) had similar
intentions but the maintainer want's it deleted.
gabedit-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47301) had similar
intentions for gabedit (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=34230) but
is now itself out of date. It has no votes.
gtkglarea-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=31353) had
similar intentions for gtkglarea (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=901). It has since been abandoned.
*Packages created for other reasons:*
aurman-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=33626) was created
to update aurman (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=26452) because
the aurman maintainer wanted to change the project to a different one (in
Jun 2010) that was also named aurman. He/she is yet to do so.
conky-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=21246) is just poorly
named and should have been called conky-dev. It has been abandoned but has
27 votes.
et-sdl-sound-fixed (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=48381) was
created to update et-sdl-sound (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=9777) but because et-sdl-sound's
maintainer became inactive (Feb 2011 was their last PKGBUILD update).
I have been going alphabetically so if anyone else is going through the list

Most were deleted. Some were not yet, because I wrote a comment and want to give a chance to read them to the the maintainer. Thank you for your efforts.
*Packages created to update others:*
haskell-xmpp-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=32418) was
created to update haskell-xmpp (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=30218) more quickly. The
maintainer is happy for it to be deleted, as stated in the comments.
hdate-applet-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=42660) was
created to update hdate-applet (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=4353) more quickly (I presume). It
currently has no votes or maintainer.
hspell-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=44608) presumably
had similar intentions for hspell [extra]. It currently has no votes or
maintainer.
pyblosxom-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=35982) presumably
had similar intentions for pyblosxom (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17253) and is maintained by
an inactive maintainer so it has old dependencies that haven't worked since
at least Oct 2010.
stardict-ncce-ce-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=40850) I
think was created to fix the source links of stardict-ncce-ce (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19437) after the project was
removed from sourceforge. It currently has no maintainer or votes and
stardict-ncce-ce is also orphaned.
stardict-ncce-ec-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=40851) did
the same thing for stardict-ncce-ec (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=19438). It also is orphaned and
has no votes and stardict-ncce-ec is also orphaned.
*Packages created for other reasons:*
idjc-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=35076) is poorly
named and should be called idjc-git
lazarus-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=26708) is poorly
named and should be called lazarus-svn, which already exists (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=18729) but is orphaned.
reciteword-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=41925) was created
to fix the PKGBUILD of pyblosxom (
https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17253), which is currently
orphaned.
spideroak-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=47096) is poorly
named and should be called spideroak-beta. It is actively maintained.
xf86-video-intel-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=22968) is
poorly named and should probably be called xf86-video-intel-alpha. I'm not
sure what is the norm around alpha packages so please let me know what
happens with this one.
yaffs2utils-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=46674) is
poorly named and should be called yaffs2utils-snapshot but it's maintained
by someone with an @archlinux email address so I think I'm mistaken on this
one. Let me know what you think.
*Awaiting maintainer responses:*
ipset-new (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=49724)
john-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=38152)
josm-latest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=13569)
metslib-newest (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=43739)
And that's the current, whole list processed!
