[aur-general] Out-of-date community packages
Hi TU, Since the community repo has been moved to the main web site, you are no longer receiving out-of-date notifications as they are being listed as orphans. We are currently working on finishing the setup, accounts, etc. Meanwhile, here's a list of recently flagged packages (there might be core/extra packages as I didn't bothered filtering the list): [acetoneiso2] [fceux] [listen] [qemu] [aircrack-ng] [gnote] [netbeans] [rubyripper] [pinentry] [virtualbox-additions] [virtualbox-modules] [virtualbox-ose] [virtualbox-ose-additions] [virtualbox-ose-additions-modules] [awesome] [imagemagick] [xtrans] [rtorrent] [libtorrent] [kvpnc] [nilfs] [nilfs-utils] [openttd] [vnstat] [efreet-svn] [eina-svn] [ecore-svn] [embryo-svn] [edje-svn] [e_dbus-svn] [e-svn] [python-sphinx] [libotf] [monit] Eric

[gnote]
It was updated after it was flagged. I haven't checked if the packages have been updated or not before sending the list.
[virtualbox-additions] [virtualbox-modules] [virtualbox-ose] [virtualbox-ose-additions] [virtualbox-ose-additions-modules]
It looks like a user abused the flag out-of-date functionnality: "The user provided the following additional text: Neither the name nor description reveal what purpose this package has. Should not a description be descriptive enough on ArchLinux packages? kernel modules for what? Linux? which one?" All virtualbox packages had a similar message. BTW, I have all the users' messages when they flag a package. If you don't understand why a package was flagged, ask me and I'll check.
those are up to date and don't know why where flagged.

Yes I received the message in my inbox ;-) I'll get to it sometime during this week, or so I hope if I find time to double check my update buildscript. Just so that people waiting for it know now. Ronald

You mean the community svn repo? Or the svn package itself?

gheh, no sorry, I meant the e17 svn repo upstream. If the svn package was broken I would have sent a message to the devlist obviously. Sorry for the casued inconvenience. Ronald

Hah, no worries. I got a little panicky thinking someone broke the svn repo :)
Hi, The jython package is out of date in Community (2.2.1), while the lastest version of Jython is 2.5.1 See: http://www.archlinux.org/packages/?q=jython I wish there was an updated package of Jython in for instance Community or AUR and I'm willing to make and maintain such a package. I'm already maintaining several packages in AUR. See: http://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?SeB=m&K=trontonic&O=0&PP=25&SO=d&SB=v Since I'm not a TU and I understand that one should not create packages in AUR that already exists, I wonder what I can do to mend the current situation. Should I apply to become a TU, just submit a package named "jython" to AUR and/or request that the current jython package is deleted? How is this kind of situation normally handled? Best regards, Alexander Rødseth

if you want you can update that package and send it to this mailing list. I could update myself(there is a new version of forums too) but i don't know how to test it. So please do that if you know how. -- Ionut

I'd be willing to maintain jython in [community]. If you have an updated PKGBUILD, send it to me off-list. I used jython in school occasionally, for the purpose of testing Java code. So I have some minimal experience with it. Moving it to unsupported is fine as well. No objections from me. -- Chris
