[aur-general] Greetings - Ghost1227
My name is Dan Griffiths and I am a 26-year-old independent contractor in Delaware, US. I have been using one form of *NIX or another for most of my life, wandering through MINIX, RedHat, Mandrake, Slackware, Debian, Gentoo and even two home made distros before finally finding Arch about a year ago. I instantly fell in love with Arch and haven't looked back once. I am currently maintaining 32 packages in the AUR, including one of my own (co-written) scripts. I go by the name Ghost1227 on the bugtracker, AUR, Wiki and on IRC. Simply put, I'm eternally grateful for the work others have put into making this such an incredible distribution and would now like to give something back to that community. I understand that at the moment there has been a bit of an influx of new TUs and as such some of you may (understandable) want to wait a while before adding anyone new to the list. As such, I thought I should introduce myself and give you all a chance to get to know me and take a look at my work without needing an immediate response. Take your time to get comfortable with the new additions, and when you are ready (and I have found a sponsor), I will still be waiting. Thank you all for your indulgence in my little rant and I hope to see you all around the community! Hi Dan, First question, who are you sponsor? I'm asking that because sometimes we want to talk with the sponsor to ask somethings about newcomers. Other, I didn't see your packages yet, but I want to know wich are your ideas to do while a TU. Thanks, On Wed, Oct 22, 2008 at 10:37 PM, Ghost <ghost1227@inbox.com> wrote:

I suppose I could have phrased that better... I don't have a sponsor yet (I'm still working on that) and I'm not asking for immediate consideration for this position (although I wouldn't turn it down). I was simply introducing myself and giving you all a chance to get to know me and my work while things settle down with your new TUs. As for what I would do as a TU? I'd definitely look into adopting a few orphaned packages in community, and I'd like to see one of my packages (bashrun) eventually find its way into community. I would also be more than happy to help out with any projects that could use an extra hand (or another pair of eyes). I've spoken to a few of you on IRC (some quite a bit more than others) and a few of you have walked through some of my PKGBUILDs with me... I think that the TUs that see me online can (I hope) attest that I am always looking for someone to help or some project to work on. Like I said in my initial email, the community has given so much to me, I think it only fair that I now try to return that favor. Dan Griffiths, aka Ghost1227 Kessia 'even' Pinheiro wrote:
