Great idea reposting it to the ML… Try *thinking* before typing. /J -- http://jasonwryan.com/ GPG: 7817 E3FF 578E EEE1 9F64 D40C 445E 52EA B1BD 4E40

Indeed it wasn't a good idea, it happened by accident, since I'm upset about the misuse that happens since a few days. If you take a look to mailing lists were I'm subscribed, you'll notice that I normally don't quote spam or reply to spam. So, my apologies, but you better should insult those who misuse AUR comments, than me for my mistake when I reported the continued misuse.

Thanks for reporting this. It appears that this might be related to Microsoft now also deciding to block the server running mailman, the aur, bbs and wiki as a "spam source". Do you happen to know if such spam comments have been posted around February 6th or 7th? Florian

There is also spam (from today) on https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/atom-editor/ And there seems to be another spam comment on the yaourt page right now. Is there any anti-spam measure for registering AUR accounts like on the BBS? I don't remember anymore. If not, it would be good idea to add something like that.

Thanks for reporting! I deleted those comments and suspended the account.

Yes, we verify email addresses of newly created accounts. This feature was introduced when we had spam issues in 2013 [1] and it was the only effective countermeasure at that moment (we temporarily had CAPTCHAs which did not work well). Obviously, it does not help against people manually posting spam but we cannot do much against that, apart from suspending accounts and blocking IP addresses.
