[aur-general] Blacklisted - postgresql-client
Well this is new.... "postgresql-client is on the package blacklist, please check if it's available in the official repos." postgresql-client is not in the repos, but it is 'provides' in postgresql, as per FS#16495: https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/16495 How should I handle this?

Hello, IMHO you should ignore the message. Having a client-only package makes sense.
From whom did you get the message?
Regards Stefan

Yes, I forgot to say that...! The new AUR won't let me update my package :(

I removed your package from the blacklist manually. There'll probably be a 1.8.1 release of the AUR that fixes those blacklisting issues and some issues with td123's "aur.git" script, soon. There's just one thing with the aurblup helper I'd like to fix before.

Thanks, works now :) I agree that checking only new submission makes better sense :) Cheers, ~p

The reason behind blacklisting provides and replaces is that users don't upload packages that have either been renamed in the official repos or are virtual packages (such as the "cron" package). I wasn't aware that we add AUR packages to "official" packages' provides tho. I also just pushed a commit [1] that makes the AUR reject blacklisted packages on initial submission only, which makes much more sense. With the help of that, it will be possible to bypass blacklisting as TUs will be able to upload blacklisted packages and subsequently orphan them to allow any other user to adopt and update.
