[aur-general] VirtualBox and 64bit guests
Hi fellow TUs. I'm happy to inform you that the new VirtualBox 2.1.0 finally added support for 64bit guests on 32bit hosts. So if you always sticked to arch32 because of lack of proprietary apps/lack fo time/fear of "those new things"/whatever... now you have no more excuses =) You can start contributing to arch64 today, just install a virtual machine! I'm doing it myself now ;-) Cheers, bardo

It only works if you have a quite recent CPU with 64-bit & virtualization built-in. VMware however supports running 64-bit guests on 32-bit AMD CPUs without VT-x/AMD-V. -- Anders Bergh

I think this is one of the next steps in the roadmap. Nevertheless, the virtualbox team is demonstrating with every release that big changes are going on, and that the project is quite active. I see them challenging vmware itself in a not so far future... Anyway this last version can be very useful to some of us; we'll see what the next ones will bring =) Corrado
