[aur-general] Removal request (stone-soup-tile)
Hi, the package stone-soup-tile (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=17099) is just a duplicated & out-of-date version of https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/i686/stone-soup/ (avaible, as you can see, in the community repo). I think it should be removed. Cheers, Edu -- *If you stand for nothing you'll fall for anything.* ArchLinux and Gnome* *user // Linux and Free Software believer // LugCR* * member.
Hi, stone-soup-title on AUR (first submitted Fri, 23 May 2008) existed before the stone-soup pkg (from the git log: 2010-09-12, stone-soup added from [unsupported], schuay). Since schuay didn't delete stone-soup-title from AUR and since stone-soup-title has conflicts=('stone-soup'), it seems like the package maintainers has been aware of the situation. The Arch Wiki states that: "The submitted PKGBUILDs must not build applications already in any of the official binary repositories under any circumstances. Exception to this strict rule may only be packages having extra features enabled and/or patches in comparison to the official ones. In such an occasion, the pkgname array should be different." Provided that stone-soup-title has additional features enabled, and schuay was fine with the existence of the AUR package at the time, I think it should be kept in AUR. -- Best regards, Alexander Rødseth Arch Linux Trusted User (xyproto on IRC, trontonic on AUR)

Actually, it doesn't… The `stone-soup' package in [community] provides both a ncurses and a tiles version. If you look at both PKGBUILD, you'll see that they do more or less the same thing, excepted that the one in [community] is much cleaner (and the AUR one is outdated) Regards, Baptiste
Ok, removing stone-soup-tile since it has been flagged as outdated since Sun, 21 Aug 2011, has no maintainer right now and since it probably should have been removed from AUR when stone-soup was added to [community] 12 Sep 2010. -- Cordially, Alexander Rødseth Arch Linux Trusted User (xyproto on IRC, trontonic on AUR)
