MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python2-reproject [2]: Suggest to delete this. All AstroPy-related astronomy and cosmology packages moved to Python 3 after 2019, and now the Python 2 ones are defunct because of the dropped and incompatible Python bindings for HDF5. Cannot be built or used due to missing and defunct dependencies. But safe to delete from AUR as nothing depends on it here. MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python-rawkit-git [2]: This project was marked unmaintained by its developer in 2018. Only 1 commit came after that, and now the GitHub repo is inactivated (made read-only). Arch still carries the last Python 3 based stable version from 2017. So I think this developmental VCS package is not needed anymore. It helps the AUR volunteers to eliminate deprecated packages, to focus on maintaining and reviving those legacy dependencies that are still essentially required by some applications. MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python2-sncosmo [2]: I suggest this Python 2 based SNCosmo package is better to be deleted. Astronomy and cosmology Python packages were forced to move exclusively to Python 3 because of the loss of HDF5 support after 2019. So SNCosmo itself does no longer support Python 2 since v2 has been released in June 2019. I've tried to check if I can restore python2-astropy and python2-h5py but my expertise is in DevOps and Java; also I saw that the C API's of HDF5 has changed a huge amount so even a C/C++/Python engineer would have to catch up with 3 years of changes in HDF5 and Python-H5Py development. Also broken because of the deleted python2-astropy and python2-scikit-image, also the AUR-based python2-sphinx is heavily broken, with lots of missing dependencies. AstroPy itself does no longer support Python 2 after they were forced to move to Python 3 exclusively, caused by the EOL'ing in 2019 of the Python 2 bindings for the HDF5 scientific data format binary library. MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for alsa-sndio [2]: Discontinued in 2018. Orphaned package. This was a 'reverse plugin' to redirect ALSA input to SNDIO output. That's an odd thing to want. Though nothing is impossible, this does not seem to be very practicable or in high demand. Upstream SNDIO supports ALSA as a backend. That seems to be the way SNDIO is used, not the other way around.
