Hello Guoyi, r-v8 seems to be an R package in the AUR. Some may find it useful - I do not - but it has nothing to do with either the R package V8 or with my package v8-r. Best regards, Marvin On 10/19/22 19:41, guoyizhang@malacology.net wrote:
Hello
Thanks for your response. The recnet change of https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/r-v8 is that now this package depends on nodejs instead of v8. I just suggest to do so.
For yhe upstream documents, maybe pr to change it?
Best regards Guoyi

Dear AUR maintainers,
please close the merge requests for v8-r. Neither was I contacted before the merge request, not via AUR comment, mail or Github issue, nor do I intend to maintain a general V8 package for Arch.
This package fills a specific need of mine to work well with the R package V8 (https://cran.r-project.org/package=V8). The AUR package v8-r is mentioned in the R package documentation.
I invest a good amount of time to build v8-r and keep the R package V8 in sync with upstream, provide updated PKGBUILDs and even provide a custom repo with binaries. I do not want to change any of this and therefore decline the merge request.
If the user wants to have a package named v8, I invite them to pick up the currently orphaned package and maintain it.
Best regards, Marvin

I would suggest use v8 instead of v8-r
