sending again because i did not send it to mailing list:
First upstream update after 0.5.2 was published on 2021-12-11, I have
flagged it as out of date, then also submitted orphan request. This
package has 0.000000 popularity and no other package needs these
bindings. If noone seems to use it then why keep it? Also you did not
read the reason, while it is not abandoned by upstream it does not build
with guile version 3 and this is main reason for my deletion request.
Additionally these bindings are for sdl which can be considered dead,
there is guile-sdl2 package which is maintained, updated and needed for
other package.
Hello,
I just wanted to highlight the fact that you do not delete orphaned
packages just because they are orphaned, if you check the orphan section
there are tons of orphaned packages.
All this package needs is a maintainer, thus I do not see why I deletion
request was submitted, he complaints you have made about the package is
just because the package has no maintainer, deletion occurs due to the
following reasons:
- Package added to community repository
- Upstream is abandoned, this does not seem to be the case, correct me
if I am wrong.
- Package violates the AUR submission guidelines.
This package needs a maintainer, if you want this package maintained I
suggest posting to the aur-general list (or joining libera.chat and
joining #archlinux-aur to discuss this issue) and see if anyone is
willing to take on the package and maintain it.
This email is for micwoj92 and not the TUs, I have just onlisted this in
case I am wrong and spread misinformation. I am not a TU just given some
helpful advice (well hopefully it is helpful).
Thanks,
