MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for zlib-asm [2]: Orphaned package, last updated in 2020. Description does not say in what way it is different from [core] zlib and minizip. From PKGBUILD it seems the creator enables some 'ASM optimizations' during the build, but still unclear for the layperson what do these changes mean and what might be the benefits. But as a long-unmaintained package, and as its last maintainer also noted that there are errors during testing in check(), I'd say it's better to delete this. If a user with the necessary specific expertise wants to create a 'fork' package of [core] zlib, they can do so, but until then, it is not useful to keep this abandoned build as a broken orphan.
