MarsSeed [1] filed a request to merge ffmpeg-compat-59 [2] into ffmpeg5.1 [3]:
'ffmpeg-compat-59' has been reported failing to build since November 2023 (two months ago as of now), but has not received attention from its maintainers.
I'd like to merge it to ffmpeg5.1, which I've adopted, fixed, updated, and will continue to maintain.
The latter provides 'ffmpeg-compat-59', and has an additional library, libswscale.so.6, that is omitted from AUR/ffmpeg-compat-59.
I am willing to offer co-maintainership on ffmpeg5.1 to current AUR/ffmpeg-compat-59 maintainers if they say they would like to help out with it.
As I've explained in a comment, the concept and pattern of 'ffmpeg- compat' is flawed, as these packages don't have the include headers or the pkg-config files. Whereas the versioned ffmpeg packages do, so the latter ones can be used for compiling reverse dependencies as well, not just be used with ready-made binaries.

My AUR account has been suspended by an abusive PM with no reason. But this merge request should still go ahead. As both original maintainers of ffmpeg-compat-59 has agreed to this package merge. I have already added both of them as co-maintainers on the merge target, ffmpeg5.1. Cheers, Marcell (MarsSeed)
