Maintainer @Arvedui explained that this package is still useful, e.g. for personal, local scripts created for customization, if some of them still rely on the Python2 module.
Where this discussion happened? I cannot read it in the mailing list messages. I'm sorry but the package was already deleted before your answer came. @Arvedui if you need this package you can reinstate it again by simply cloning the package and push an update.
