Yes, but they do that by running the pkgver() function[a], not by being manually updated, this package gives me version 2.10.0.pre0.r1536.ga62cd19967 when executing the corresponding makepkg commands. Also maintainers are discouraged[b] from bumping the version when there is no other change to the pkgbuild.
