jasongodev [1] filed a request to merge scratch3-bin [2] into scratch3 [3]: I updated aur/scratch3 and it is now working. It compiles using Scratch's GitHub repo. I believe a *-bin package is not ideal for electron apps because it will always have incompatibilities and mismatches with the dependencies of the target architecture. And because the upstream did not provide a native binary for Linux, a recompile during installation is the most reliable way to make Scratch work compared to using a surrogate binary from Windows/Mac. I also asked the maintainer of aur/scratch-desktop to merge with scratch3. The Scratch developers are having a hard time deciding what to really name their Scratch desktop app. Their repo has scratch- desktop which will probably be included in scratch-gui in the future. On the other hand, scratch-gui is now merging with scratch-editor. For consistency and clarity, we will use scratch3 as the desktop app in AUR moving forward.
