There's still a stable package on AUR. This package [1] does not provide a release but simply applies some patches on a random VCS commit. Leaving it in place while at the same time deleting the VCS package discussed in this thread hardly makes sense. A comment I just left there addressing the package in general may help discussing the upstream situation, too.
Currently the upstream repo is unmaintained, but not abandoned for once. E. g. the repo isn't archived and comment [2] suggests the same.
All in all I'd suggest to leave the package in a kind of hibernation for the time being and have just pinned a comment explaining the situation.
