vitaliikuzhdin [1] filed an orphan request for bertini_real-git [2]:

The package has been unbuildable ever since the git:// protocol was
deprecated, yet the author has not responded. Additionally, it uses
questionable build practices, such as checking for the existence of
Python during the build process to install Python bindings, instead of
splitting them into a separate package.

As you can see from my profile, I own all but two packages from the
Bertini ecosystem: bertini_real-git and bertini. If I were given the
ability to update them, I already have the necessary PKGBUILDs and
patches.
