[aur-requests] [PRQ#4261] Deletion Request for slack-desktop
Scimmia [1] filed a deletion request for slack-desktop [2]: Duplicate of slack-chat [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Scimmia/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/slack-desktop/
Sorry, but 1. The real name of app is slack-desktop not slack-chat (see the sources). 2. The slack-chat is unmaintained (Flagged out-of-date 2015-10-05 and last update 2015-09-28). 3. The slack-chat package does not fulfill the AUR guidelines. Greetings 2015-10-29 23:34 GMT+01:00 <notify@aur.archlinux.org>:

Sorry, but none of that is important. 1. No, it's not. Just because it's the desktop version of the program doesn't make that the name of the app. 2. The only thing important about the dates you give is that they show that slack-chat has existed longer so slack-desktop is a duplicate, which is not allowed in the AUR. If it's no longer maintained, you request that it be orphaned, you don't create duplicates. 3. The slack-desktop package virtualy the same, except the current maintainer removed the contributor info. Bad form. If there's a problem, notify the maintainer to fix it. 4. Dont' top post.

Sorry, I misspelled. Not the name of app, the package name. If in Debian/Ubuntu the package name is slack-desktop I think (IMHO) that in Arch the name must be the same.

Sorry for that but I write all PKGBUILD from scratch. Is true that there are similar commands. A find or tar is a find or tar. I not have problems with mentions and I push a new pkgbuid with it.

I disagree. It's called Slack for Fedora [1], Windows [2], MacOSX[3], iOS[4], Android[5], and Windows Phone[6]. Just because they renamed it for Debian to avoid a name collision does not make it the canonical name. Even if it were the case, that doesn't change the fact that it's a duplicate.

The exact same command, with the exact same syntax, in the exact same order, with the exact same spacing. Whatever.

Done!
Greetings.

We have here the same name-collision problem. Note that I'm not disagreeing with you, the packages slack-desktop, slack-chat and slack-bin are duplicates one of another. The only thing I say is that "more right" the name of slack-desktop, but I'm not the one who make the final decision.

I do not know why you think that is so unusual. Anyway we don't become obsessed with this.
