[PRQ#39202] Deletion Request for radicle
Foxboron [1] filed a deletion request for radicle [2]: Duplicate package, and distributes a static binary when the source is available. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Foxboron/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/radicle/
Hi! I'm an official member of the Radicle project (I'm @adaszko on the project's official Discord: https://discord.gg/vhGXkazpNc). We maintain statically linked binaries so that end users do not experience build problems with the project, which we had many. We just today had someone come to Discord and complain the PKGBUILD is not building for them hence the conversion to binaries. We use the strategy of distribution statically linked binaries on macOS too and it's been very successful: the number of reported problems dropped significantly. The next release should also provide binaries for ARM64 for Linux and macOS (the scripts for building them are in place, but we're yet to have a release). I'm open for a chat on the #support channel at our Discord too. Wish you all the best — Adam On Thu, Dec 15, 2022 at 3:10 PM <notify@aur.archlinux.org> wrote:

You are free to distribute these as `radicale-cli-bin` or `radicale-bin`, but the `radicale` or `radicale-cli` packages on the AUR should distribute the project as built from source per our guidelines. Please see https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/AUR_submission_guidelines#Rules_of_submissi... Cheers,
Wish you all the best — Adam

Fair enough! I'll rename the package accordingly. Thanks! On Thu, Dec 15, 2022, 6:40 PM Morten Linderud <foxboron@archlinux.org> wrote:
