[PRQ#47937] Orphan Request for linux-pf
post-factum [1] filed an orphan request for linux-pf [2]: As a pf-kernel author and developer, I ask this package to be orphaned so that I can pick it up and move forward on my own. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/post-factum/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/linux-pf/
Yes, this package should be handed over to upstream maintainer (@post-factum, aka 'pf'). So far this package has been very rarely maintained and updated, and also it has used Thaodan's own personal fork of linux-pf, not the original upstream version. @Thaodan, if you want to continue maintaining your own fork, that's fine, but in that case, please create a separate package for it (e.g. linux-pf-thaodan). With that, you will no longer be bound by upstream's and main Linux kernel's release cadence. Thank you for your cooperation. On 25 September 2023 14:42:54 GMT+02:00, notify@aur.archlinux.org wrote:

Request #47937 has been Accepted by gromit [1]: Disowning because: a) upstream maintainer offered to take over (PRQ#47937) b) package was not properly maintained before c) package is currently not out of date and does build unexpected sources (fork instead of upstream) [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/gromit/
notify@aur.archlinux.org writes: I didn't have time to answer the request (fine by me). But I want to clarify a few points.

Yes I didn't keep up with the releases, I should have updated the status of the package earlier or disowned earlier.
c) package is currently not out of date and does build unexpected sources (fork instead of upstream)
The package didn't build a fork, it used the upstream sources plus patches such as applied Linux stable patches earlier than the upstream. In addition I restored the patch status of the kernel, the upstream removes the patch status.
