[PRQ#75093] Deletion Request for labwc-noxwayland
oech3 [1] filed a deletion request for labwc-noxwayland [2]: WLR_XWAYLAND= has same effect. Saved packaging level dependency is few. https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Labwc#Xwayland [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/oech3/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/labwc-noxwayland/
This isn't about saving space from dependencies. Even if Xwayland can be disabled at runtime, the binary is still present on the system, meaning a vulnerability could still be exploited to execute it, even when disabled. This package, instead, removes the Xwayland code entirely, making it impossible to run. This approach is more secure and better suited for users who want to harden their systems and have no need for X at all. On 8/4/25 12:17, notify@aur.archlinux.org wrote:
