[PRQ#73714] Deletion Request for cursor-extracted
AlphaLynx [1] filed a deletion request for cursor-extracted [2]: Duplicate of cursor-bin. It downloads the same AppImage (https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=cursor- extracted#n2 vs. https://aur.archlinux.org/cgit/aur.git/tree/PKGBUILD?h=cursor-bin#n13) and repackages the binary. This violates AUR submission guidelines. If the maintainer of this package (https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Altareos) believes cursor-bin needs changes they should be submitted to that maintainer (https://aur.archlinux.org/account/g.schulz) on a comment. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/AlphaLynx/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/cursor-extracted/
As stated in the comments, cursor-bin provides the raw appimage while cursor-extracted unpackages it. This fixes an issue some people have with multi-call binaries such as rustup or voltajs, but is not desirable for people not using such tools as it causes a significant increase in package size while getting further from upstream. I believe this is reason enough to keep both packages.
Request #73714 has been Accepted by Muflone [1]: [Autogenerated] Accepted deletion for cursor-extracted. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Muflone/
