MarsSeed [1] filed a request to merge kafkacat-avro-git [2] into kcat- cli [3]: Upstream has been renamed to 'kcat', "to adhere to the Apache Software Foundation's (ASF) trademark policies", according to the changelog entry for version 1.7.0 (Aug 23, 2021). The latter package on AUR supports avro, just like the source 'kafkacat-avro-git' build. There's no VCS package with the new name, but it is not that much needed. This is a relatively simple tool, so it is not getting many commits. The stable kcat-cli is currently only 11 minor change commits behind master.
