[PRQ#80064] Orphan Request for libsigrok-git
xiota [1] filed an orphan request for libsigrok-git [2]: Maintainer has not responded to many comments from different users describing various issues since 2021. Most recently, maintainer notified via comment Dec 2024 that libsigrokcxx is missing and needed by other packages. Package should be orphaned so someone else can update it. Users posted issues that were on their system. Other users commented informing them of this, or the original poster commented saying they had realized it.

That comment doesn't make sense for this package because libsigrokcxx is a separate package which would depend on this one. No changes to libsigrok-git are needed for that, and the PKGBUILD posted by that commenter has weird non-essential dependencies added (icons for a library/tool without a graphical user interface? Should make anyone suspicious of the rest of the changes being made without a methodical approach too)

There are, in the few comments, effectively 2 feature requests the maintainer should consider: adding the gpib dependency if possible (and it doesn't break other stuff), and changing the URL. Please don't make the mistake of trusting all the comments people make if you chose to maintain this package. Disowned.
The C++ library is provided by extra/libsigrok. The -git package also needs to include it for compatibility with C++ projects, including pulseview, by the same developer. If you don't like it, open an issue against the official Arch package. $ pacman -Fl extra/libsigrok | grep 'cxx\.' libsigrok usr/include/libsigrokcxx/libsigrokcxx.hpp libsigrok usr/lib/libsigrokcxx.so libsigrok usr/lib/libsigrokcxx.so.4 libsigrok usr/lib/libsigrokcxx.so.4.1.1 libsigrok usr/lib/pkgconfig/libsigrokcxx.pc Icons are installed by the make file. They are also included in extra/libsigrok. If you don't like it, complain to the developer. $ pacman -Fl extra/libsigrok | grep -E '(png|svg)' libsigrok usr/share/icons/hicolor/48x48/mimetypes/libsigrok.png libsigrok usr/share/icons/hicolor/scalable/mimetypes/libsigrok.svg Your accusation is not appreciated. Users can see the changes on git and compare with extra/ligsigrok. If you cared, you could have updated the package yourself rather than disown, or replied to the 2024 comment in a timely manner to explain why you refuse to add some depends to build the cxx library. Instead, you chose to ignore it. On Fri, Mar 6, 2026 at 5:40 AM Cody Schafer <cody@codyps.com> wrote:
