[PRQ#46458] Deletion Request for python-orange3-git
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python-orange3-git [2]: Orphan VCS package from 2021. Its source URL scheme is defunct since 2022-03. No comments or votes. Not useful to keep without user and maintainer interest. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/python-orange3-git/
Request #46458 has been Rejected by muflone [1]: please don't adopt packages you don't intend to maintain only for asking deletion. the software is still alive, fix the package if you plan to support it or orphan it [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/muflone/
Hi @Muflone, By adopting this dead package and commenting about it, I wanted to help PM's to more quickly process the huge amount of pending requests. As currently there is no filter for dead/disowned/unvoted/etc packages in the requests list, only "maintainer's requests". I did not indend to misuse this, rather, I wanted to take responsibility for the deletion, because no one took responsibility for this dead package for 20+ months. (Insecure GitHub URL broken since March 2022.) Also this package has 0 votes and no comments apart from mine. The stable, maintained package lives at: https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/python-orange So why keep dead packages that absolutely no one wants and that receives 0 attention? - This was my consideration. This is just a dead end when a user searches for "Orange", more so for "Orange3". Totally counterproductive to keep this. Now I have found another reason why it has to go from AUR: please kindly see new deletion request PRQ#51807 [a] Thank you for all the huge amount of your dedication and care that you are putting in attending to AUR package maintenance. I appreciate it very much, as well as every feedback you give me. Take care, Marcell (MarsSeed) [a]: https://lists.archlinux.org/archives/list/aur-requests@lists.archlinux.org/t...
