[aur-requests] [PRQ#35643] Deletion Request for python2-pycrypto
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python2-pycrypto [2]: This is not required. It has been discontinued in 2013 and has been replaced by [community] python2-pycryptodome. The package is also not proper, as this should at least conflict with python2-pycryptodome; as they share the same namespace. PyCryptodome is the continuation fork of this deprecated module, therefore there is no good reason to provide this except maybe to very old modules before 2012 (which, if exist, have a high chance of not working correctly now with Python 2.7 anyway). Even worse, it declares it provides python2-pycryptodome, which is impossible; an ancestor module from 2013 cannot provide 2022's version of its successor module. Anyway, nothing in AUR requires this. They depend either on python2-pycryptodome from repo, or on 'python2-crypto', which leads them to use the former from repo (via its virtual provides). So I urge you to delete this package. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/python2-pycrypto/
