[aur-requests] [PRQ#35605] Deletion Request for cpyrit-cuda
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for cpyrit-cuda [2]: Orphaned package. Pyrit was last released in 2015 and is still using Python 2. In 2019, the developer added a comment to the GitHub repo's README, saying they are working on a rewrite for Python 3, 'stay tuned'. But zero of that effort can be seen; there hasn't been any commits to that effect. (In fact, that added README note was the last commit, in 2019.) Meanwhile, this package is now broken because of deleted and broken Python 2 modules. I am not knowledgeable in the field of cracking hashes and passphrases, but I have a feeling that there are other, up-to-date tools that can leverage today's improved CPU, GPU and specialized hardware landscape for such infosec purposes. Safe to delete this defunct package, nothing depends on it. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/cpyrit-cuda/
