[aur-requests] [PRQ#28302] Deletion Request for obsidian-insider
lishid [1] filed a deletion request for obsidian-insider [2]: Whoever is reviewing this deletion request - thank you for taking your time. This will be my one and only last attempt to request this package for deletion. Feel free to suspend my account if this violates any of your policies. I am the author of Obsidian (for verification you can email me [admin at obsidian.md]). I am deeply disappointed by the community of ArchLinux users. I understand that you guys feel justified in hosting scripts which downloads our insider packages from GitHub, which are not meant for public use. While this may be legal, it's just a shitty thing to do on the internet. I am well aware that you don't "host" anything on your servers, but I invite you to be respectful internet citizens and respect the wishes of software authors who make software that supports your platform. Thank you for your consideration. P.S. We've removed the "insider" GitHub hosted files, so this package will now be an actual duplicate of https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/obsidian as it will no longer be able to access those files from the build script. Hopefully that's a good enough reason to delete or merge this package into `obsidian`. Thanks! [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/lishid/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/obsidian-insider/
Request #28302 has been rejected by ainola [1]: It's a shame that this played out in such a way, but please remember that these types of communities don't play well with developers that wish tight control over the distribution process. I will not suspend this account on the hopes that some future collaboration with the community might be achieved. Though I don't think submitting any more requests would be a useful spend of anyone's time :) [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/ainola/
