[PRQ#60999] Deletion Request for perl-test-cleannamespaces
micwoj92 [1] filed a deletion request for perl-test-cleannamespaces [2]: This was once needed as check dependency for perl-moose, but it is no longer needed as of 2.2207, no other packages need this for tests. Request #60999 has been Rejected by bertptrs [1]: Package is up to date and has plenty of interest. Please stop filing deletion requests for perfectly functional packages. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/bertptrs/
Hello, What do you mean "plenty of interest"? By comments from 2019 and before? Yes, it is functional, but it is also useless now (for AUR users). This package was only ever needed for perl-moose. https://web.archive.org/web/20150801023659/https://aur.archlinux.org/package... https://web.archive.org/web/20231205023815/https://aur.archlinux.org/package... As moose no longer requires it and 0 other packaged required it since 2015, then I think there is pretty much 100% chance that no other package needs it. And someone develops perl software themselves then it's much better to manage modules using cpanm. pon., 17 cze 2024 o 09:08 <notify@aur.archlinux.org> napisał(a):

None of that is a reason for deletion. The package is up-to-date, maintained, and as far as I can tell, correct. Please refer to the rules of submission [1]. It is also not useless, as the provided functionality still works.
And someone develops perl software themselves then it's much better to manage modules using cpanm.
Plenty of people prefer system-wide packages for their development environments. This is fine and supported. The AUR does disallow against niche packages. If it is useful to at least some people, it can be there.
