[PRQ#44418] Deletion Request for openspace
Mr.Smith1974 [1] filed a deletion request for openspace [2]: The project has a git version and this one is no longer required. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Mr.Smith1974/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/openspace/
this one is no longer required
That is not true. The project just released a new stable tagged release 2 weeks ago. So this package needs an update, that's all. A rolling -git package is not the equivalent of a stable one; not all users want to rebuild after every single commit. On 13 July 2023 16:14:48 GMT+02:00, notify@aur.archlinux.org wrote:

I made a mistake in creating this package. This can only be built from GIT.There's no "no git version": https://github.com/OpenSpace/OpenSpace/wiki/Compiling-Ubuntu-Linux There > 10 repositories that need to be connected with submodules. 13.07.2023 17:37, Marcell Meszaros пишет:

There is a difference between a -git packages (those have a pkgver() function and build from an upstream git branch) and a package that uses git to retrieve sources. For example check out my two packages pawxel and pawxel-git[1]. Both use git, both check out quite a few submodules and yet one pins a specific commit and is therefore on a fixed version while the other one builds the default branch of the project. hope that helps, gromit [0] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pawxel [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/pawxel-git
