[PRQ#65852] Deletion Request for ansible-core-2.16
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for ansible-core-2.16 [2]: Older duplicate of Arch/extra/ansible-core. [a][b] [a]: https://archlinux.org/packages/?q=ansible-core [b]: https://gitlab.archlinux.org/archlinux/packaging/packages/ansible- core/-/commits/main [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/ansible-core-2.16/
Please do not remove this. This is not a simple duplicate. ansible v2.17 removed python 3.6 as a supported remote version.[a] And many remote servers running an enterprise linux distribution, such as, RHEL 8 [b], SLES 15 [c], are still using python 3.6 as system-wide default python interpreter. Sysadmins using archlinux on their PCs needs ansible 2.16 to manage their servers. [a] https://github.com/ansible/ansible/blob/v2.17.0/changelogs/CHANGELOG-v2.17.r... Hi @nicolasyang, Thank you for reply. I will cancel my deletion request shortly. To avoid future confusion, would you be so kind as to add a short remark in the package's pkgdesc about this? E.g. by appending "(legacy version for Python 3.6 remote support)", or something to this effect? Thank you in advance! Cheers, Marcell / MarsSeed
