[PRQ#81351] Deletion Request for srware-iron-bin
EpicTux123 [1] filed a deletion request for srware-iron-bin [2]: Per https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/Nonfree_applications_package_guidelines#Pac... , non-free apps should not have the "-bin" suffix when the package cannot be compiled from source. To avoid problems during upgrades, after the package is renamed, the "-bin" suffix can then be later added as a 'provides' for the package without the suffix. (This is a rename request rather than a deletion one, but the deletion is the most appopriate to pick from the three options.) Additionally, this browser is listed as proprietary in https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/List_of_applications/Internet#Proprietary_c... offs , but the AUR package specifies an incorrect license (GPL 2.0). In Wikipedia, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SRWare_Iron : Licence BSD, with some parts under other licences.[6] Source code not provided. Request #81351 has been Rejected by Muflone [1]: not a reason to delete it [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Muflone/
It does not conform with AUR package guidelines regarding non-free apps (the -bin suffix thing). I agree, the package itself should not be deleted, but it should be renamed at the very least. Not wanting to sound rude, but the guidelines are there for a reason, and they should be followed. Thanks. -EpicTux123 Sent with Proton Mail secure email.
