[PRQ#47769] Deletion Request for cmarked
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for cmarked [2]: Proposal to delete this broken Qt4 package from 2017. Upstream's readme says the code is "in very early stage and is not suitable for production". And development has been discontinued since 2017. Request #47769 has been Rejected by muflone [1]: as long the package works fine and doesn't use deprecated or uninstallable dependencies there's no point in deleting it [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/muflone/

This EOL package from 2017 is very much broken, because python-pyside for PyQt4 is not compilable with Python 3.11.
Hi

Therefore let's face the python-pyside package. The python-pyside issues don't directly reflect this package breakage. Make sure to provide correct and meaningful information in the deletion requests, not indirect reasons not related to the package itself. Best regards -- Fabio Castelli aka Muflone
Muflone, cmarked is the only remaining mandatory reverse dependency of python-pyside. Qt4 is EOL since 2015, and pyside was a minor, lesser used Python binding for it. I understand your cautious approach, but very old legacy unused packages that are broken are not particularly worthy targets to keep in my view. Not even Debian maintains PySide for Qt4 in any of its repos. The way I am submitting cascading deletion requests are carefully considered. Deleting cmarked would allow deleting the nowhere else needed python-pyside and (python-)shiboken.

XDDD Thank you :) I appreciate your humor, and also your attention to detail, and your reasonable high standards when it comes to package decisions! Sorry for being perhaps sloppy sometimes, I really try to take care I will do better and better next time. Cheers :) Marcell
