[PRQ#40863] Deletion Request for prismlauncher-cracked
Lutitious [1] filed a deletion request for prismlauncher-cracked [2]: This package violates microsoft's terms of service and as such is best to remove from the aur. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/Lutitious/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/prismlauncher-cracked/
We are packagers, We are not responsible for the legality of the software, PKGBUILDs are simply used to build a package. Unless microsoft comes along and intentionally demands that we remove it from the AUR, why do we need to care about the legality? Besides, the terms of service for minecraft related content is abused, and not enforced. This is just my opinion, others might disagree, -- Polarian GPG signature: 0770E5312238C760 Website: https://polarian.dev JID/XMPP: polarian@polarian.dev
Request #40863 has been Accepted by Antiz [1]: To Lutitious: Thanks for raising this. The package is now deleted. To Polarian: This is just wrong. As stated in the FAQ section of the AUR wiki page [0]: "For most cases, everything is permitted, subject to usefulness and scope guidelines, **as long as you are in compliance with the licensing terms of the content.**" Illegal packages are **not** allowed on the AUR and we, as packagers, are responsible for the legality of the packages we submit/maintain.
