Being behind with versions isn't a valid reason for orphaning, given that the pkgbuild build fine and you haven't reported preblems by comment on the page. Both the requester and I have been added as co-maintainers. pkgbuild have been updated with the minor changes needed.

If the maintainer is not updating the package in a timely manner, there most certainly is reason for orphaning.

I forgot to specify for VCS pkgbuilds, like in this case
Request #30572 has been rejected by ainola [1]: Maintainer has updated the package and added the reporter as co- maintainer [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/ainola/
