[PRQ#77572] Merge Request for quickbuild-git
nordtektiger [1] filed a request to merge quickbuild-git [2] into qvickbuild [3]: Hi again. I have already requested this once in PRQ#75904 (project renamed from quickbuild to qvickbuild) and got rejected as the removal of -git was deemed to be inappropriate for my package. I am happy to add -git back in case the -git suffix truly is the right choice for this package, but I would like to bring to light some additional context. The main branch for my project is protected and every change goes through a separate development branch, and every merge to main is through a planned release. Both automated and manual tests are done for every release. Again, the releases are also tagged. The PKGBUILD fetches a specific version tag from the main branch. Thus, there are multiple systems in place to ensure that the PKGBUILD builds a *specific* version, and does not just build the latest commit. I apologise if I have misunderstood something crucial when it comes to naming AUR packages. As stated in the Wiki (https://wiki.archlinux.org/title/VCS_package_guidelines#Package_naming), a suffix should be present when the package isn't fetching a specific release, but in my case, it DOES fetch a specific release. (Unless using #tag= does nothing?) Finally, I am very grateful for the tireless work that the package maintainers put into running the AUR. I am truly sorry if I have misunderstood the naming convention and am happy to change it if I am in the wrong. Just wanted to make sure the previous rejection wasn't a mistake. Thank you for your time. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/nordtektiger/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/quickbuild-git/ [3] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/qvickbuild/
