[PRQ#62275] Deletion Request for ume-git
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for ume-git [2]: Broken, discontinued fork of sakura, abandoned on AUR and by upstream since 2020. [a] Cannot be built from this PKGBUILD. Original upstream sakura is actively being maintained [b], and a stable package for it exists in Arch/extra repo. [c] [a]: https://github.com/SgtWiggles/ume [b]: https://github.com/dabisu/sakura [c]: https://archlinux.org/packages/?q=sakura [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/ume-git/
If you have a problem with building this PKGBUILD - use comment section on AUR or my email to provide details, works on my machine(tm) (and every other I have lying around). Sakura may be more actively maintained, but still lacks patches necessary for configuring colors without recompiling, since all color-schemes are hard-coded, making it less practical to use. None of the arguments against the deletion above were addressed before taking the action. I take it communication of one's intent is optional here and there is no safeguards against frivolous deletion requests, so likewise I am restoring the ume-git repository by making a new git push. As you already submitted again the same package, make sure to make it working by building it in a clean chroot, using extra-x86_64-build or it will be deleted again At the actual stage the it doesn't build for missing the git dependency. Regards -- Fabio Castelli aka Muflone
Thanks, substantive feedback is always appreciated. Changes are reflected in current package version. On 2024-08-26 17:49, Muflone wrote:
