[PRQ#73855] Merge Request for openvpn-update-systemd-resolved
AlphaLynx [1] filed a request to merge openvpn-update-systemd-resolved [2] into update-systemd-resolved [3]: I believe this package should be renamed to update-systemd-resolved to align with upstream name. Also, the package is out of date and the maintainer has been unresponsive according to the two open orphan requests (PRQ#73550 and PRQ#73762). The update-systemd-resolved package I created is up-to-date and fixes several packaging issues. Hi Rubin, cc'd you on this thread for your information since you opened an orphan request (PRQ#73762)[1] and if you have any thoughts on this merge.
I believe this package should be renamed to update-systemd-resolved to align with upstream name.
I'd like to mention that the Arch wiki says "For the sake of consistency, pkgname should match the name of the source tarball of the software" [2]. When downloading `update-systemd-resolved` from GitHub UI [3], the downloaded tarball is `update-systemd-resolved-2.0.0.tar.gz`. Therefore, pkgname should be `update-systemd-resolved`. If I'm misunderstanding or misinterpreting the wiki guidelines please let me know! I would be happy to close this and adopt `openvpn-update-systemd-resolved`, once the orphan request is accepted, to apply my changes and then maintain it going forward (and then also delete update-systemd-resolved as it would then be duplicate if this merge request is declined). Hi, I personally would not rename to update-systemd-resolved because this script *is* really specific to openvpn. Having openvpn in the name makes it easier for people to find it in relation to openvpn packages they might already have, easier to find, etc. That said, I don't have a horse in the race, so whatever. Like you I've updated the pkgbuild quite a bit, totally fine if you want to maintain it! Having openvpn in the name makes it easier for people to find it in relation to openvpn packages they might already have, easier to find, etc. Good point, I guess the counter-argument to that is that it should have a good description with OpenVPN in it and keywords, so people can find the package via AUR webpage or preferred AUR helpers. That said, I don't really care either way either.
I think I'll just close this and adopt when the orphan request is accepted. Regards, AlphaLynx On Tuesday, June 10th, 2025 at 3:13 AM, Rubin <me@rubin55.org> wrote:

Request #73855 has been Rejected by AlphaLynx [1]: Going to stick with the openvpn-update-systemd-resolved name since it's maybe more clear, I don't care either way though [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/AlphaLynx/
