[PRQ#57951] Deletion Request for didjvu
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for didjvu [2]: Djvu is practically dead except for readers and tools than convert from it to other formats. This Python2 based tool is EOL since 2019 and is not buildable from AUR. But it is also useless to keep. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/didjvu/

This is a totally uneducated personal opinion. My whole document workflow is based on djvu. There is no alternative that matches it's features and efficiency.

It is. Just built it a few days back on a new computer. Only "trick" is to manually install a missing make-dependency (python2-wxpython3) for gamera.
But it is also useless to keep.
Yeah whatever. I'm used to Archlinux czars breaking other peoples software/systems, because they don't like/need them. BR

As you have ignored my comment from June 2023 and haven't fixed your package, I think this czar has a valid point in sending this deletion request.

That is your prerogative, but it is not useful to keep unbuildable EOL tools on AUR. And it should not be recommended to anyone to work with djvu files anymore, as the software ecosystem around it is going the way of the dinosaur.

There is no need to "fix" it. Python2-nose builds perfectly well (contrary to your statement) with the PKGBUILD posted as comment on the AUR. Yes nobody filed a disown request and fixed it. That would have been a sensible route. But of course this wouldn't fit your agenda of getting rid of python2 packages. BR
Request #57951 has been Rejected by MarsSeed [1]: Revoking this request, please kindly disregard. Maintainer is still using it and it is still functional. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/
