MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for python2-gdal [2]: This Python2 bindings library is useless, as there is no corresponding gdal legacy build available. The bindings package was recently pushed back to AUR as it's a dependency of maptiler-oss. But that Python 2 application has been discontinued since 2019 and was broken since 2021-07, when Arch shipped gdal 3.3.0, which dropped Python2 support. Fellow AUR user @hexd maintains lots of legacy python2 packages like NumPy and ScyPy, and many others for scientific use. He said he tried to build GDAL for Python2 but it resulted in lots of segfaults, so he deemed this effort doomed despite his expertise.
