[PRQ#42182] Deletion Request for sirius-git
simonp [1] filed a deletion request for sirius-git [2]: I'm the author of this PKGBUILD and one of the developers of the code. I'd like to delete this package. It's outdated, and due to the amount of possible installation options, it is much better to use https://github.com/spack/spack to install it. Simon, maybe it's better if you just orphan this package for now. I don't need it, but someone might want to take over maintenance. Especially because the SIRIUS project's main Readme file links to this AUR package, suggesting it to Arch users. It does not actually harm anyone if a package is left orphaned on AUR. It is flagged out-of-date for needing maintenence. That might be a call to action for someone to adopt it. On 15 June 2023 14:19:31 GMT+02:00, notify@aur.archlinux.org wrote:

@Polyzen, this package should not have been deleted so soon, a few days after former owners' request, because I've raised a counterpoint to that, and also asked the maintainer of the stable AUR/sirius if he wants to take over this one as well. Then former maintainer @simonp also fixed and updated their package. The readme file of the SIRIUS project links to this AUR package specifically, recommending it to Arch users. And there is still active development. So this package should stay on AUR and wait for a new maintainer. Thank you for considering my points. Dear all, it is fine to delete it from my side. The freshly updated PKGBUILD can be reused to update https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/sirius to the latest stable release. We have removed the link to the sirius-git AUR package from the SIRIUS readme also. Best regards, Simon Marcell Meszaros <marcell.meszaros@runbox.eu> writes:
