[PRQ#39947] Orphan Request for sdrpp-git
2WheelDev [1] filed an orphan request for sdrpp-git [2]: The package has bad versioning issue, the maintainer is aware of the issue, but correspondence with the maintainer in October 2022 found he doesn't have the resources to work on the package. His reply was as follows: I know about it. As I've mentioned on the github, the PC that I use for the AUR is currently out of service. It will be edited when I get the time to fix it. It's never been an issue since the master branch sees one or more commits a day most of the time anyway. In my emails to the maintainer, I mentioned that I would be happy to co-maintain the package but this proved unsuccessful too [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/2WheelDev/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/sdrpp-git/
Not sure how to properly reply to this but if the author of the request could go mind their own fucking buisness it would be better for everyone. I'm dealing with unversity and the death of a close family member, your fucking version issue is the least of my priority. I write that software, I manage the AUR package. if you're not happy with that you're free to add the single damn line to the aur config to work around the issue. Quite frankly, I am disgusted with your response. I never expected to receive abuse for attempting to provide assistance. The problems raised are not only an issue for me, as you'll see if you read the comments on the AUR package page. If you think this is just some trivial issue, but if I don't exclude sdrpp-git from being installed it can take between 5 and 10 minutes everytime my laptop is updated. I am sorry to hear that you're dealing with the loss of a close family member, but please understand my request was never meant to be hostile. The software you designed is fantastic and I wish to see the maintenance of it better supported in the AUR, hence my original request to co-maintain the package. This is meant to be a community, but you're angry response does nothing to foster that community. On Fri, 27 Jan 2023, 02:31 Alexandre Rouma, <whatsthetgeek@gmail.com> wrote:

To whoever manages these requests: It's my software, I maintain the package. I do not need nor want to work with anyone else. On Fri, Jan 27, 2023 at 3:16 AM <notify@aur.archlinux.org> wrote:
