[aur-requests] [PRQ#27379] Deletion Request for linux-enable-ir-emitter-git
EmixamPP [1] filed a deletion request for linux-enable-ir-emitter-git [2]: Hello, I am the creator of the software used by this package. However, it is no longer up to date at all and I maintain the following package with the help of other people via my GitHub : https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/linux-enable-ir-emitter/ This package is therefore an out-of-date duplicate and the maintainer never announced himself on the git project. VCS pkgbuilds are by definition never outdated (unless there are issues), so far there hasn't been a single fixed release of linux-enable-ir-emitter, and even then it is not valid reason to delete linux-enable-ir-emitter-git which can continue to exist
Request #27379 has been rejected by alerque [1]: I'm sorry, but that isn't quite how packages work here on the AUR. VCSH packages such as this `-git` one do not go out of date because they automatically package the latest repository commit. It is also not necessary for the upstream project to be involved or even approve of AUR packaging, although of course involvement is usually welcome. If there is something specific broken such that this does not build properly, please leave a comment under the package and give the maintainer a chance to fix it. If it doesn't get fixed, then later please feel free to file an orphan request so somebody else can maintain it — but in this case a deletion is unwarranted.
