[aur-requests] [PRQ#35976] Deletion Request for bzr-gtk
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for bzr-gtk [2]: Broken Gtk frontend for Bazaar (bzr), the Python 2 based VCS client, discontinued by Canonical in 2017. This package doesn't work because it's incompatible with bzr's continuation fork, breezy, carried by Arch repos. Therefore I suggest to delete it, as it's not useful to keep. And the Python 2 based and deprecated bzr should not be used because if it works at all, it cannot be considered secure (Python 2 itself is EOL since 2020 and is not patched even for security vulnerabilities). There are alternative graphical frontends for Breezy, like zim, carried by Arch repos. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/bzr-gtk/
Request #35976 has been Rejected by MarsSeed [1]: Revoking this request, please disregard. This package does have a maintainer. I am still waiting for their response as to whether they want to resolve the Python 2 / GObject / Gtk dependency problems and use this with the old Python 2 based bzr. ~2-3 weeks might be too short a notice for such issues to be communicated and corrected. Fixing seems to be possible if/when maintainer has the necessary time available to dedicate to these matters. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/
