[PRQ#54149] Deletion Request for chkservice-git
MarsSeed [1] filed a deletion request for chkservice-git [2]: Upstream repository has been deleted (404). [a] [a]: https://github.com/linuxenko/chkservice [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/ [2] https://aur.archlinux.org/pkgbase/chkservice-git/
THIS PACKAGE HAS NOW BEEN FIXED, SO DO NOT DELETE THIS. I WAS NOT THE ORIGINAL PACKAGER OR MAINTAINER, BUT THIS PACKAGE IS NOW FIXED. On Saturday, February 24th, 2024 at 5:49 PM, notify@aur.archlinux.org <notify@aur.archlinux.org> wrote:

You can keep it, of course. But are you sure it's worth it? There's already a stable chkservice 0.3 package on AUR, and the master branch is only 1 commit newer (from 2020), with some Readme changes. Also your PKGBUILD still fails during package(): ==> Starting package()... make: Entering directory '/build/chkservice-git/src' make: *** build: No such file or directory. Stop. Also, its pkgver has been decreased, from 0.3.r1.gea40b14 to 0.3.r1.ea40b14f. (It's not your fault, but that of the git describe line inside the pkgver() function: it deletes the "g" before the shorthash, which preferably it should not do.)

The package still fails to build, and there's still no newer upstream commit than what the stable AUR/chkservice uses. So there is zero benefit in keeping this package.
Request #54149 has been Rejected by MarsSeed [1]: Low-priority request. Deferring for later. [1] https://aur.archlinux.org/account/MarsSeed/
