Hi, in lib/libalpm/alpm.h, you define PM_LOCK to "/tmp/pacman.lck", but the lock file should depend on config->root, a scenario: I have a chroot at /home/chroot where I ran the following: pacman -Sy -r /home/chroot xorg gnome gnome-extra kde And i want to update and/or install on my real root ( / ), so I run pacman -Syu but pacman will exit since /tmp/pacman.lck exist, this is wrong, "pacman -r /home/chroot" should not lock "pacman -r /" since pacman will not touch /var/lib/pacman... [pacman-dev] New development

Ok, I'm going to jump in about here. For those who aren't on the arch-dev list, I am basically going to be MIA for a week or so due to various personal things. When that is over, I'm going to try and pick up development where Aurelian left off, as he seems to be incommunicato. Anyway, I know you frugalware peeps have lots of developments beyond what is in the main pacman3 tree. I'd like to make a run through this and find out what's going on, and where exactly the current development is at, on both sides of the fence. So, if you have any info for me, or anything important for me to go over while I have no computer (I'll probably print the source if it's not too big), let me know. Thanks, phrak

[pacman-dev] add message() function call for use in *.install/.PKGINFO files

Different packages use different style to output some info for user. They use echo, but prefixes information with different chars (" >>> ", " ==> ", " >> " etc.). I think it will be better if there will be message() function that can be used for such purpose. This will not only make all such info messages the same style, but also this will allow to cache such messages and display them after upgrade process (this is very useful when upgrading many packages). What do you think?
