While installing kdebase (pacman was still downloading the deps) I tried to make the pkg of enemy-territory, is this (see the attachment) what you aspect makepkg3 to do? (I don't think so :)
This operation uses the undocumented -D argument to pacman. I'm not that familiar with it, and I'm not a fan of undocumented arguments, but I am guessing it was never updated to perform a transaction to the likes of -Ss where it does not need to lock the DB. -Dan
