[pacman-dev] pacman 3.0 in testing
Well, pacman 3.0 has gone to testing. It may take some time for everything to sync and all that jazz, but for those packagers using testing (and pacman 3.0) you will need an extra step for the time being when uploading packages. pacman will create packages tagged with the architecture, (i.e. pacman-3.0.0-1-i686.pkg.tar.gz) you will need to rename this WITHOUT the architecture until we update all the dev tools to use the new format (this includes the devtools package and the archlinux.org repo scripts). nice :) the changelog is funny, a huge amount of the changes are still from the Frugalware merge that was done a loong time ago (maybe in a galaxy far away, who knows :P) hm, yes. removing some of those features (bindings, etc) took some time happy further "developmenet"! If any up2date="$(cat this_list >>/dev/_your_brain)" You should read some things first. vmiklos has an reason for this so far I see. ArchLinux devels ( aaron first ) didn't started the work on pacman3 with the *broken* not maintained anymore pacman-lib CVS but after he merged the 'Frugalware' tree of pacman3. Of course after that ArchLinux devels changed or removed things but all this new things like progressbar , gettext support and much more are from 'Frugalware' initially , whatever later on things got changed to work better or work with ArchLinux and I just can't see everything about this in pacman3 'release changelog'. Do you ? No wonder about vmiklos's 'Fsarcasm'. PS: This is not *meant* as flames Arch vs Frugalware or the like. Regards, Gabriel
