Adding "-" in front of the options for pacman looks weird to me. How about just adding: [[ $PACMAN_OPTS != -* ]] && PACMAN_OPTS="-$PACMAN_OPTS" Then "-o -dt" and "-o dt" will work. Allan

Then "-o -dt" and "-o dt" will work.
